From the Artist:

In my artistic journey, I am compelled to explore the intricate tapestry of Dominican culture, identity, and femininity. My work is a testament to the rich and multifaceted heritage that has shaped my existence, as well as a reflection on the nuanced experiences of Dominican women.

From the studio:

"Mirame (Una Belleza Tropical)," translated as "Look at me (A Caribbean beauty)" is an edition that plays at concealing and revealing the paper it's printed upon. A gradient of pink and blue reveals a figure that is further defined using a clear matte layer that accentuate the paper's surface. The figure's hair shows the paper's raw texture, while the face is slightly softened under matte layer, and an application of gold foil mics the natural texture of a hoop earring.

Artist Bio:

Tiffany Alfonseca (b. 1994) is a Dominican-American mixed media artist who creates vibrant and colorful artworks that celebrate Black and Afro-Latinx diasporic culture.

Her work aims to visually articulate that these communities are a cultural cornucopia that is vast, varied, and complex. When you consider a history where Black and Brown bodies are constantly on guard, Alfonseca’s work serves as a safe space teeming with beauty and joy.

Recent showings include The Library Street Collective (Detroit), Jenkins Johnson Gallery (NY), and DeBuck Gallery (Chicago).
